• Spring is here!

Well, pregnancy not really, this site but this household has been taken over garden planning. This will be our third year at The Spring Gardens and I can’t wait! Last week I ordered from Amazon the book You Grow Girl! by Gayla Trail. I’ve followed Gayla’s blog for over a year now, and her handy “Lazy Gardener’s Automatic Seed Starting Chart” came in handy last year… Our first year at the garden I started the tomato seedlings too late. I grew up surrounded by fruit trees in warmer, closer to the equator weather, so I didn’t know much about this “plant by” and “frost free” dates. Our second year I…

  • Simplicity 5914

This is one of the skirts that brought back the seamstress in me after more than a decade. I was a little nervous to sew again; for many years I had only sewn hems, adiposity lots of pillows and a picnic blanket…but no clothing from scratch! Oh my! I had stopped sewing for myself almost as quickly as I started; this was due to the the green striped pleated skirt incident (age 12? 13?) which now I believe looked horrible mostly because the old lady teaching me insisted I make it about a size or two too big.

  • My hips don’t lie

When I was a kid, viagra I loved making my dolls dresses and fancy skirts, furniture, houses, etc, etc. Doll’s clothes were extremely expensive for someone without an allowance (and a bit hard to find in a small-town-third-world-country setting) so there wasn’t much of a choice. Well, not that I was complaining about having to sew them, it was fun! 20 years later…after gaining a little weight (I’m not complaining; for about a decade my weight didn’t fluctuate much) my skirts didn’t fit any more…so I went on this crazy search for the perfect skirt.
